sketching elle

I just picked up the latest issue of Bullett Magazine and am so glad I did.  This may be my favorite issue yet.  Each one has a theme this one being the Surreal Issue.  There are three covers out, and even though I am obsessed with this photo shoot, I'm glad my area had the one with Michael Pitt on it.  I was even more elated when I flipped through and found this incredibly interesting shoot with the always lovely Elle Fanning shot by Pierre Debusschere.  I love the smatterings of colors that look like smeared paint, mixed with the organic lines drawn onto all of the photos.  Perfectly in tune with this months theme.  There are also many more fantastic interviews and artist spotlights this month.  Definitely worth picking up a copy.

and the actor goes to...

The SAG Awards are always a little more subdued as there is no host and only actors are invited and get to vote.  This years the nominees for each event are so varied it's hard to predict who will win. (also makes it ore exciting!)  But here are my picks for best dressed last night.

and the golden globe goes to...

Among the sea of black, red, and cream, my best dressed had to be Kerry Washington.  She looked flawless.  The show last night was hilarious and heartfelt.  Jodi Foster's speech started out weird, but then brought me to tears.  Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hilarious throughout the evening.  I was a little disappointed with the fashion though.  Ladies need to branch out for the SAG awards.  So happy for Lena Dunham and the entire "Girls" crew!  DVR'd the season 2 premiere last night.  Can't wait to watch it!

turning 30

So I turned 30 a week ago.  It feels weird to write that.  I don't feel 30 and apparently I don't look 30 as pretty much every new person I encounter asks me what school I go to.  I always liked getting older for that reason, but 30 just sounds so different.  Most of my friends are past that mark so I thought it wouldn't bother me and it doesn't really.  It's just weird to state my age now.  I had a lovely birthday and it all started by having my desk covered in french macarons and cupcakes with gold candles, a big bunch of balloons (as seen above) and a tiara which I wore all day.  All compliments of my lovely friend Emilie.  Late that day I saw this article:

I guess turning 30 isn't so bad after all.

and so it begins...

Awards season has officially begun with the People's Choice Awards and then the Critic's Choice Awards last night.  So you know what that means, fashion eye candy!  I didn't watch the People's Choice, but here are my favorite looks from last night's Critics Choice.  My husband and I always get ballots and make predictions for each awards show we watch and the winner gets a prize tbd.  I've only lost once and it makes the boring categories like "best sound editing" a lot more exciting.  I just love this time of year.  Can't wait for the Golden Globes on Sunday.  Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will be hilarious!

75 Books

I did much better than last year, but I still didn't make it back up to 100.  I don't know if I'll ever be able to repeat that.  I got stuck several times this year, not knowing what to read next so I picked up books that had been on my shelf for years that I had started and put back over and over again.  I finally read almost all of them and quite a few made it on this list.  I'm about to be stuck again, so if you have any recommendations, please comment below!
So here's my top 20 books I read this year:
